Produce Express: Helping Our Community

CBC members have recently partnered with the Second Harvest Food Bank and the Union City Ministerium in the on-going distribution of food to those in need of assistance, a program known as the Produce Express.

Cathrin Capela, wife of Pastor Chad Capela, is the Produce Express Coordinator for the Union City area distribution.

Union City's first distribution of food was on Tuesday, May 5, 2015.  Nearly 80 households, who met income qualifications, were served.  The July 2015 distribution will serve 120.

For the most up-to-date information about Union City's distribution, please view the Facebook page SHFB Produce Express, Union City.

Spreading Christmas Cheer

If you stumbled into Tops Markets on Tuesday, December 16 around 7 pm, you could not miss our CBC Christmas Carolers ringing the Salvation Army Kettle, singing Christmas songs, and wishing late-evening shoppers a Merry Christmas.  It is a long standing tradition at CBC to assist in the bell-ringing at least once every Christmas season. CBC will also be caroling at the Colonial Terrace Home of Corry, Pennsylvania on Sunday, December 21 at 1:30 pm.

Canned Goods Food Drive

It has come to our attention that the Union City Food Pantry is in great need of canned fruit and vegetables to feed local families this winter season.  Community Bible Church is responding by hosting a 2-week food drive to help meet the need.  All donations are asked to be dropped off at our church location, 5000 Route 6 at Willey Road, 4 miles west of Union City, no later than Sunday, December 28.  CBC will deliver all goods to the Food Pantry promptly.

Thank You for Joining Us!

Thank you everyone for joining us and the Christian Choristers September 13 at the Union City High School and September 14 at Community Bible Church. We had a lovely turnout at both concerts and it was a blessing to hear the praises of our Lord and fellowship with everyone. We look forward to having the Choristers again in the years to come!

See below for a slideshow of photos and video from the concerts.

Christian Choristers in Concert

Community Bible Church proudly presents the Christian Choristers for two free concerts on September 13 & 14.

Mark your calendars! Community Bible Church of Union City is hosting the Christian Choristers, a Southern Gospel men's choral group, this September for two FREE concerts.

  • Saturday, September 13, 7 pm at the Union City High School Auditorium
  • Sunday, September 14, 11 am at Community Bible Church

The Christian Choristers have been hosted by Community Bible Church on several prior occasions. Most notably was their visit on April 9 and 10, 2011, which drew over 300 members from the community.

Organized in 1959, the Christian Choristers present the Good News in song to the Apostolic Christian Churches (Nazarene) and their local missions across North America. The group strives to be faithful to their calling by proclaiming an unchanging message to a changing world. Whether they seriously challenge listeners with "In the Lord Alone," raise spirits with "I'm Feeling Fine," or longingly look forward to "No More Night" in "Sweet Beulah Land," there is something for everyone in the messages of their songs. In 2009, the Christian Choristers released a new album entitled "Celebrating 50 Years."

The Christian Choristers performed in Norton, Ohio on August 9, 2014.

So far this 2014 year, the Christian Choristers have performed in Phoenix, Arizona; Wooster, Ohio; Norton, Ohio; and Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. In October the group will sing in Ontario, Ohio.

The Christian Choristers are currently comprised of 24 singers who hail from Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, Michigan, Maryland, Virginia, Arizona, and Ontario, Canada.

Missionary Homecomings

This summer our church was blessed by the homecomings of missionaries Katy Pavkov and the Freeman family.

Katy Pavkov had not been home to Pennsylvania for nearly a year. She returned to Pennsylvania in July and remained state-side for 3 weeks before returning to the mission field at the Nepomuceno Boys Home in Brazil. Katy's parents Tom and Darelene Pavkov hosted a church-wide picnic in Katy's honor at their home on Sunday, July 20, 2014.

The Freeman Family last visited the United States in 2010. Ben and Stephanie's daughters have grown up before our very eyes. During their visit to our church on Sunday, August 10, Ben blessed our congregation with a presentation detailing their on-going ministry at GOTM Lebenshaus in Brazil and shared a message from God's Word. Joel and Fern Boleratz hosted a church-wide picnic in the Freeman's honor at their home that evening.
